“No matter how large or small your battle scars might be…the scar that remains after healing is a reminder of how far we have grown.” –Laura D. Field
Scars always carry a story. The story’s themes may be of bravery, injury, hurt, pain or accident. The final scene of the story can either be that of victory or defeat. Due to the fact that scars carry deep meaning, they can carry a great deal of emotional weight as well.
Scars can play a powerful role in life. They can remind you of what not to do, and serve as a reminder to not repeat the same mistakes. They can also help remind us to be careful not to harm others in a similar way. They also can help us know how to help others who have similar scars. However, even though scars can play a large part in our growth, they can also cause a great deal of emotional and physical pain as well. (more…)
People choose to have plastic surgery for many different reasons. Here are five reasons you may be considering getting plastic surgery.
- Injury or Illness – If you’ve had an injury or illness that has altered the function or appearance of a part of your body, you may be considering plastic surgery to restore what you lost.
- Cosmetic – You or a partner may desire a modified look to a specific part of your face or body. In this case, you’re looking for an upgraded look that matches your perception of perfection or beauty. You may see someone whose looks you’d like to match or be similar to.
- Functional – At times you simply cannot function without plastic surgery. A birth defect or loss of function in a specific part of your body may demand a functional surgery.
- Revision – Perhaps you already got surgery and it didn’t achieve the results you wanted, or it simply did not work. In this case, you would need a revision. This process addresses specific problems or deformities caused by a previous surgery.
- Reverse the signs of aging – Plastic surgery can be successful when turning back the hands of time on your aging process. Wrinkles, drooping and other signs of aging can be erased with plastic surgery.
Thanksgiving is a time of looking back with gratefulness. During your feast you usually take time to share what you’ve been thankful for over the past year. It’s also a time to reflect on the first Thanksgiving and its rich history. Giving thanks over the years since that first feast when the Pilgrims and Indians sat together is a tradition to be treasured. At San Francisco Center for Facial Plastic, Reconstructive and Laser Surgery we’d like to give thanks for the options we have available to help with reconstructive plastic surgery.
There are many reasons individuals choose plastic surgery. At times, reconstructive surgery is necessary. (more…)
In our country, as in much of the world, products are sold by association with a beautiful or famous person. However, the power of American pop culture and Hollywood biases has led to a near equivalence of youth and beauty. This is quite easily seen by flipping through the ads at the front of nearly every news or fashion magazine. Or when you compare the ages of male and female leads in our movies… Though it is not explicitly stated, the converse is certainly implied by our media: age is not beautiful, and particularly not for women.
I was recently traveling in Japan when I was struck by a particular counter-example. (more…)

These days, there are many tools available to help you achieve the look of your dreams. Rejuvenating treatments like Dysport and other injectables help reduce the formation of wrinkles and keep you looking as young as you feel.
As we age, the repeated muscle contractions involved with smiling, frowning and even furrowing the eyebrows lead to the formation of wrinkles and lines. Squinting and even sleeping on your side can be contributors to crow’s feet, the lines that form at the edges of our eyes.
So if you want to preserve that youthful look, remember to go with Dysport. (more…)
