Facelift for Men FAQ

Q: How does the “facelift for men” differ from a facelift performed for a woman?

A: Differences in the facial anatomy of men and women include the size and strength of the facial ligaments, the hairline in the temple regions, and the presence of facial hair. In addition, the relative contribution of aging in the cheeks, lower face, and neck is often different in men – with a thick waddle occurring in many cases. Dr. Ransom makes subtle changes to the incision placement to ensure that these are hidden by your hair and that no changes occur in the facial hair or sideburns. In addition, different techniques may be used for tightening the neck muscles and skin in a male facelift. This frequently includes a platysmaplasty (to tighten and lift the hanging platysma muscle) and, in severe cases, a tailored skin excision under the chin.
