If you have grown to dislike the appearance of your face, whether due to a lack of volume or contouring, it is likely a result of aging and reduced collagen production. The cheeks, cheekbones, and jawline are important focal points of the face that are defined by volume and symmetry. Voluma injections are used to restore volume through the use of a hyaluronic-based gel that is injected under the skin.

Deflated areas, which impact the definition of facial features, are re-filled using Voluma, resulting in more desirable cheeks and jaw lines. Unlike many other injectables, Voluma is injected deeper into the skin to achieve the lift that effectively changes the appearance of the mid-face area. The product is made by Allergan, the company responsible for making Botox and Juvederm.

There is very little discomfort when receiving Voluma injections, as the treatment is non-surgical, and a numbing agent called lidocaine is mixed with the solution prior to injection. You may feel slight discomfort in the treatment area due to pressure as Voluma is injected into the skin. Treatment takes around an hour, and patients will see results immediately.

Am I a Candidate for Voluma?

The typical age of patients who receive Voluma is 30 to 70 and are those who are seeking treatment as a result of visible signs of aging due to loss of volume. Every patient is different, so it is important that you seek consultation at Ransom/MD. Dr. Ransom and his team will provide advice and guidance on whether Voluma is right for your needs.
