Soften Smile and Frown Lines with Botox
Botox cosmetic has been approved by the FDA to treat smile and frown lines. The clostridium botulinum bacteria that is the active ingredient in Botox acts as a nerve blocker. When injected into the area where muscles contract when you smile or frown, around the eyes or between the eyebrows, the bacteria works to stop nerve signals from the brain from reaching the muscles. It usually takes about five days after the Botox injections to see results – a smoother appearance to “crow’s feet” or the frown lines between the eyebrows.
While Botox cosmetic is safe, the best results are garnered with precise doses and placement. Too high of a dose or too many injections can restrict movement and look unnatural. Dr. Ransom uses precise dosages and placement, carefully giving our patients excellent results that look natural and can last for up to four months or longer.
