Neck lift surgery can be personalized for each client’s individual needs by incorporating various techniques to achieve a desired outcome. For patients looking to diminish the banded, turkey-like look on their neck, a particular kind of neck lift surgery known as a platysmaplasty may be in order.
During a platysmaplasty, the platysma muscles are modified, and parts are sometimes removed entirely. These are two large, sheet-like muscles that run down from the chin to the collarbone.
First, an incision is created behind the ears, below the chin, or in both sites. The surgeon uses specified tools to adjust and remove the muscle tissue, eliminating the banded areas. The incision is then closed with sutures, as with the other neck lift procedures.
