Neck liposuction removes fat around the neck and chin region by placing negative pressure on a cannula (tube) that is introduced through a very small incision. As the fat is removed, a space is left in the tissue. This surgery is best for patients with good overall skin tone and minimal excess skin.
In some patients with poor skin tone, there may be some irregularities, even if the neck liposuction treatment is limited to the deep layer of fat. When the skin tone is not good, at some point a different procedure may be indicated.
There is a limit to how much fat can be removed at one time without increasing general surgical risks; this is especially true with neck liposuction.
